General – Creating a Billink Charge
Understanding how a Billink charge is created within each clinical system, such as Socrates, iMedDoc, or HealthOne, is important. Although the look and feel may vary slightly between systems, they all follow a similar structure. This consistency is because Billink requires specific information to create a charge.
*For our newest integration – DGL Practice Manager – watch our short clip on how to take instant integrated payments now:
Let’s break down the key components necessary for creating a charge:
- The person to be charged – This refers to the patient who is responsible for the payment. When creating the charge, you will need to input the patient’s details.
- The person creating the charge – This represents the name of the individual who provided the service. In most cases, it will default to the person currently logged into the system. However, if you’re an admin team member and you want to attribute the service to a specific doctor, you can make this change in the “Charged By” drop-down menu (e.g., in Socrates).
- Charge type – This refers to the specific service provided to the patient. It helps categorize the charge appropriately.
- Charge to – This field is present in systems that facilitate 3rd party charging. However, it should default to personal, indicating that the charge is directly applied to the patient.
- Date – The date field represents the date of the service provided. By default, it will display the current date. If you need to charge for a service rendered in the past, such as a blood test completed two weeks ago, you can modify the date accordingly.
- Amount – This field allows you to specify the amount to be charged for the provided service.
- Mobile number – We require the patient’s mobile number to send a Billink SMS, ensuring a seamless payment experience for them. Please note that mobile numbers are not required for Terminal Charges.
In terms of Charge Type, we are actively enabling Terminal Charges across all systems. In the future, you will have the flexibility to choose between sending a Billink charge via SMS or using the Billink virtual or physical terminal card reader.
Since the design and functionality of these charge windows are controlled by your software provider, we recommend reaching out to them directly if you have any further questions or inquiries. They are best equipped to provide you with specific information about these features and any new functionality being added over time.
