Statement Descriptors

Practice Statement descriptor

When Billink makes a remittance payment to your practice bank account (on a daily or weekly basis) it will likely appear with our default descriptor of ‘Billink Payments’. You may wish to amend this description and add your own.

You can do that by clicking the edit icon and typing in your own descriptor which will be used in all future remittances by Billink to your practice. Your bank is ultimately responsible for how these descriptors are displayed so if there is a delay in this change taking effect please contact your bank to update how payments are displayed with the most recent information. Traditional banks, unfortunately, can be slow. The Practice Statement description is what the PRACTICE sees on their bank statement for each payment FROM Billink.

Patient Statement descriptor

When a patient makes a payment to your clinic through Billink the description of that charge on the patients bank account statement is called a ‘Patient Statement Descriptor’. This will default to our generic ‘Clinic Payment’. You can change this to better reflect the name of your practice and avoid any confusion with your patients e.g. Main Street Clinic or Galway GP Clinic. Patients are much more likely to recognise payments if the descriptor contains your practices address.

You can make this change directly in this section and it will take effect immediately with all future Billink payments. e.g. Billink Payments The Patient Statement description is what the PATIENT sees on their bank statement for each payment TO the practice. e.g. Dr Sean Smith Clinic Note* Patient and Practice statement descriptors usually take effect immediately. You can change these descriptors as often and as many times as you like. However, it is ultimately up to your bank or the patients bank as to how any transaction is described. We have on occasion seen old descriptors being used for many weeks before a traditional bank updates them.
